More than a candle.
Designed to decorate, as well as scent. Fine china, hand-decorated and kiln-fired in Stoke-on-Trent. An original illustration wraps the full vessel, finished by hand with a rim of 22 carat gold. When the candle is finished, the ceramic stays.
Made in the home of British fine china.
Our ceramics are made for us by a small team of decorators in Stoke-on-Trent, who hand-decorate every piece and finish each one with 22 carat gold around the rim. Each ceramic is fired three times: once for the body, once to set the illustration into the glaze, once to fix the gold.
The wax is blended with our fragrance, before being hand-poured by our chandlers. Each piece is then packed with care in our Cheshire studio, before it leaves us for you to enjoy.

What does The Library Ceramic Candle smell like?
The Library Ceramic Candle. Imagine a panelled study, warm and still. The scent of pomegranate and pink pepper opens the room with a spark of something rich, giving way to jasmine, clove and a thread of warm resin. Beneath it all, amber, cedarwood and patchouli settle into the background like the spine of a well-loved novel.
How long does it burn for, and how should I look after it?
Up to 90 hours. On first use, burn for 2 hours, or until the wax melts evenly to the edges. Burn for 1 to 2 hours at a time to enjoy the fragrance and prolong the life of your candle. Trim the wick to 3mm before lighting for a clean, even burn. Never burn the candle all the way to the bottom, and always place it on a heatproof, protective surface.
Can I keep the ceramic vessel after the candle has burned down?
Yes, that's the whole idea. Every Chase and Wonder ceramic candle is designed to be kept forever, never thrown away. Once the wax has finished, order a refill to keep using it as a candle. Or repurpose the ceramic for something else: makeup brushes, toothbrushes, a small plant, pencils on a desk. Designed to outlast the wax.
Is it refillable?
Yes. Every fragrance in our range is available as a refill. Once your candle has burned down, remove any remaining wax with warm water, dry the ceramic thoroughly, and pop in a fresh refill. Same fragrance, or something new from the range.
Where is it made?
Everything is made in Britain. Our fine china ceramics are hand-decorated in Stoke-on-Trent and finished with a 22 carat gold rim, fired three times in the traditional way. The candles themselves are hand-poured in our Cheshire studio, blended with fragrance and packed by our small team.
Is it cruelty-free, and what's it made of?
We use vegan-friendly soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and our fragrances are not tested on animals. Plastic-free packaging across the range. Hand-poured in Cheshire, hand-decorated in Stoke-on-Trent.
How long does delivery take, and is it free?
Free UK delivery on orders over £75. Standard UK delivery is 2 to 4 working days for £4.95. Next day UK delivery is £9.95. International shipping is calculated at checkout. Gift wrapping is available at checkout, every wrap done by hand. Easy 30 day returns, full refund or exchange. Anything not right? Let us know and we'll resolve it straight away.
