About Chase and Wonder

Chase and Wonder is a British luxury home fragrance brand founded in 2010 by David and Faye Aspinall. We make scented candles and reed diffusers in illustrated ceramic vessels, all proudly made in Britain. Our ceramics are hand-decorated in Stoke-on-Trent - the historic home of British pottery - and our candles are hand-poured in small batches by skilled British chandlers.

Everything is made in Britain. Our ceramic vessels are hand-decorated in Stoke-on-Trent by a small father-daughter team, using 22-carat gold detailing applied by hand. Our candles are hand-poured in small batches using vegan soy wax and lead-free cotton wicks. We've been making our products this way since 2010.

A few things set us apart. First, our candles come in hand-decorated fine ceramic vessels - not glass jars - made in the Potteries by British craftspeople. Second, every ceramic candle and diffuser is refillable, so the vessel is designed to last a lifetime. Third, our fragrances are developed to be deeply evocative - not just pleasant, but transporting. And fourth, we back all of this with a burn time of up to 90 hours on our ceramic candles, significantly longer than most comparable candles on the market.

Our Ceramics

Our ceramic candle and diffuser vessels are made from fine china, hand-decorated and finished with real 22-carat gold detailing. They are made in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire - the spiritual home of British ceramics - by a small, skilled team.

Yes. All of our ceramic candles and reed diffusers are designed to be refilled. Once your candle has burned down or your diffuser has run out, you can order a refill (£40) and the vessel continues its life. Many of our customers have been refilling the same ceramic for years. It's better for the environment and better value over time.

The ceramics are genuinely beautiful objects, designed to be kept. Our customers use them as pen pots, plant pots, trinket holders, and decorative pieces around the home. Many collect several and display them together. The 22-carat gold detailing and original illustrations mean they're worth keeping long after the candle is gone.

Our ceramic candles (£68) are our flagship product. They contain 300g of soy wax, burn for up to 90 hours, are refillable, and come in a hand-decorated fine china vessel with 22-carat gold detailing. Our glass candles (£40) are a beautiful entry point to the range - they contain 185g of soy wax and burn for 40–50 hours - but they are not refillable and come in a black glass vessel rather than ceramic. If you're buying as a long-term investment or a special gift, the ceramic is the one.

Fragrance

We understand this is the biggest challenge of buying fragrance online. The best solution is our Fragrance Sample Pack - 19 cards individually sprayed with each of our scents, sent to your door so you can try them all at home. It also includes a £10 discount code for use on any future order over £75.

We also describe every fragrance in detail on its product page, with the key notes listed and the mood or world it evokes - so you can get a strong sense of each scent before you buy.

We have 17 fragrances in our permanent collection: The Library, The Country Garden, The Tropical Paradise, The Seashore, The Flower Lady, The Dashing Gent, The Botanist, The Enchanted Forest, The Orangery, The Jungle, The Tuscan Sunset, The Autumn Rose, The Alpine Lodge, The Butterfly Lady, Rosa, Eden, and The Land of Nod. We also release two seasonal fragrances - The Starry Night and Home for Christmas - available in autumn and winter.

Our best-selling ceramic candles are The Land of Nod, The Alpine Lodge, The Tuscan Sunset, The Flower Lady, and The Library. For seasonal scents, Home for Christmas sells out every year.

Our candles are made with vegan soy wax and lead-free cotton wicks, and our diffuser oil is alcohol-free. We do not use paraffin wax. If you have a specific sensitivity or allergy concern, please contact us at [email protected] and we'll do our best to help.

Candle Care

A few simple steps make a significant difference. Trim the wick to 3–5mm before every burn. On the very first burn, allow the wax to pool all the way to the edge of the vessel - this sets the memory of the wax and prevents tunnelling. After that, burn for one to two hours at a time for best results. Never burn for more than four hours in a single session.

This is almost always caused by an untrimmed wick. Trim to 3–5mm before each burn and the issue should resolve immediately. If it persists, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Our ceramic candles burn for up to 90 hours. Our glass candles burn for 40–50 hours. Actual burn time will vary depending on conditions and how carefully the candle is maintained - trimming the wick regularly and avoiding draughts will maximise burn time.

Refills

Yes - for both ceramic candles and reed diffusers. Candle refills and diffuser refills are both £40. Simply order the refill for your fragrance, and full instructions are included. It's one of the things we feel most strongly about - buying a Chase and Wonder ceramic should be a lifelong investment, not a one-use purchase.

Full instructions are included with every refill. In short: once your original candle has burned down, clean out the ceramic vessel, insert or pour the new wax, and you're ready to go. If you have any questions, our team is always happy to help at [email protected].

No - refills are available for our ceramic candles and reed diffusers only. The glass candles are not refillable by design.

Gifting

They're one of the most popular luxury gifts in our customers' repertoires - birthdays, Christmas, Mother's Day, housewarmings, and thank-you gifts are all common occasions. Every product comes in a beautiful gift box as standard, and we offer a gift wrapping service on all ceramic items, with the option to include a personal handwritten note.

Yes - free standard UK delivery on all orders over £75. We also offer free delivery to the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland on orders over £75, free EU delivery on orders over £250, and free US/Canada delivery on orders over $200.

We are open Monday–Friday. Orders placed after midday on Friday, or over the weekend, will be processed the following Monday. We do not currently offer weekend delivery.

Returns & Exchanges

We want you to be completely happy with your purchase. If for any reason you're not, we offer a full refund or exchange within 30 days of receiving your order, provided the item is returned unused and in its original packaging. Delivery costs are non-refundable.
